Sneaked on at work to update

Oh my goodness its 150% better than I thought it would be - this house has wrapped itslef round us and is a home.

We have a BT line today but no broadband. Rang them and it will be at least 12 days before we can get it sorted. So thanks for all your lovely comments we are all so happy.

The best thing is that because my son Davids room is so small we have said that the front living room is for him and Kate use as their own, they have spent every evening this week in there together watching tele and chatting - which they havent done for many a long day - they dont spend any evening time in their rooms anymore - what a bonus it has turned out to be. Still loads of boxes to unpack - I said to Alan last night I am so happy I can't even be bothered to complain to the solicitors and estate agents about the problems we had. We lost the cat for a couple of days but she turned up happy and well fed!! Will try and take some photos asap. Need to get clothes rails up in alcoves tonight ready for fitted robes later.

The men said they had never seen anyone with so much stuff - they had a big box van and trailer and had to go back for another two vans!!!!!

I was off on Tuesday on my own for a potter and unpack day and I was sat there in the kitchen having a little cry because I was so happy and contented. Going to order the kitchen table tomorrow and chairs - exciting. Hopefully Ross is coming with a toilet to fit under the stairs at the weekend - we decided to forfeit that area which is fab rather than the utility which would be problematic to install a loo.

Any ideas on tracking for a curved bay ??

Will keep checking you all out at lunchtime at work next week

Hi Catherine, so glad you're in and loving it. We got our track for the bay from John Lewis, is's a metal one, you curve it yourself and it works like a dream, I'd never use plastic again now!
keep enjoying!

Hi Catherine
So pleased to hear you are gradually settling in to your new nest.. it takes a while.. we still haven't unpacked everything and we have been here two years now!
We have curved bay windows and used iron curtain poles with passing rings... there is a light weight tracking that you can get.. I look for the website and get back to you.
Happy nest building.

Try this online site or just google curtain tracking.. there are lots of good companies to choose from.

Hi Catherine

I'm so glad you got there in the end. I haven't had a chance to look on your blog since 15 Jan so I had some serious catching up to do.

Unbelievable, all of it (well no, more like par for the course actually), but to think of your arms stretched round that bay window ... regardless of whether you have track ... Well done. Enjoy it now, and take as long as you like to unpack. Spend lots of time on that red leather!!!

It's wonderful to read that you are so happy after all the trials and tribulations with solicitors and estate agents. It was all worth it in the end. Our house is still for sale, that's 8 months now and I am really getting fed up of people asking me how the house sale is going! It's not. OK!!!! If you are who I think you are I have left a message for you on ebay (sounds very cryptic but I think you bid on something of mine that is now for sale again and if you aren't on line at home you probably won't see it).

Hi Catherine, our bay is a curved one, I'm not sure how easy it was to fix the track, I think I remember some naughty words coming from Mr. Bloom when he was trying to fit it. One good thing about small houses, you don't need so much curtain fabric!
Hope you are taking lots of pics ready for when you are back online!
have a good weekend,

I hope you are settling in. I expect that Emma Bridgewater teapot came into good use on moving day, that's if you could find the kettle? x

Hi,
We have sold our house this weekend and it's all systems go. I just hope we don't have anything like the hassle you did! Are you nearly unpacked yet?

HURRAH! What great news, so glad you're in and the fun stuff can really begin now!
Re: dresser - mine was a pretty bog standard, varnished orange pine affair until very recently. All I did was lightly sand the surface then a quick wallop with Wilko satin in Cornish Cream I think. It desperately needs another coats (looks quite streaky but if you like the distressed look its spot on!) Really easy and I didn't bother with primer or anything. I do intend to finish it and top with a coat of matt varnish eventually but it does pretty well for now (just don't look too closely!)
I got mine form a free ad in the local paper and paid about £60, 10 years ago. I bet you could pick up a bargain, get the local paper quick!
So glad you're in and looking forward to hearing more about it soon.
Best wishes
